I graduated from high school in Kempten in summer 2019. After that, I wanted to spend a year exploring the world and worked in a shipyard in New Zealand, sanding and inhaling lots of epoxy resin. After three months, I was able to join an NGO in Vanuatu that organises supply trips to the Shepherd Islands with traditional sailing boats known as \"Vakas\".\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I enjoy photography and have also realized small film projects. However, my main interest is building and crafting - I started with very technical, programming-heavy electronics projects, such as my DIY 3D printer, Minecraft 4D or the self-driving car. Thanks to YouTube, I get most of my instructions from the internet. I used to earn the money for the components as a tutor at school, in construction or at vacation jobs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Over time, my interest in product design and concepts that go beyond technical implementation grew. What I still enjoy most, however, is creating projects with my own hands and ending up with a new product of my own.<\/p>\n

Currently I am studying mechanical engineering with a focus on industrial design at the TU Dresden, hoping to gain something from both worlds, technology and design. During my Erasmus stay at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, I studied one semester of pure product design without any technical reference to try out an even freer design approach.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the recent projects, I have clearly focused on sustainability and how products can become circular in the future. I believe that we have already put enough products into the world in many areas - there is no lack of furniture, lamps or clothing in our western world. That's why I don't see my job as an engineer and designer in creating incentives for new products, but in finding solutions to make products more durable, sustainable and, in particular, circular. I am currently experimenting a lot with approaches using recycled materials, mono-materials and simple reparability.<\/p>\n
