modular desk

Actually I wanted to build a workbench with oscilloscope, power supply, soldering device, etc.. integrated. Unfortunately, the "smart table" project never got off the ground. However, as I had already ordered a nice plywood board with oak veneer and had it lying around, it became a normal desk for studying. The table top was quickly finished: gluing in the threaded inserts, milling the edges, sanding and glazing. The only thing I really underestimated was the frame, mainly because I'd never done any proper welding before. I wanted it to be as simple and easy to assemble and disassemble as possible. So I came up with a modular concept: two U-shaped legs have a cut-out in the centre into which a crossbeam is inserted and screwed. Sanding, sanding and sanding, drilling, impregnating with linseed oil and voilà, you're sitting at the table swotting maths ;-)
