Irgendwie hab ich immer schon gerne mit Papier gebastelt und gefaltet. Großer Vorteil: man kann mit überschaubarem Aufwand nette Geburtstagsgeschenke produzieren.
What fascinated me about origami was how you can create a three-dimensional figure from a square piece of paper without any cutting or gluing. However, I wasn't quite so strict with the lamps: here I was allowed to glue, punch holes and sew. Both lampshades were originally old posters that I glued together to achieve the required size. First a pattern is folded, then everything is smoothed out again to finally create the volume with mountain and valley folds. The ends are then simply glued together. In the round lamp, the shape is held together at the top and bottom with a thread. In contrast, a 3D-printed plastic ring was glued into the cylindrical lamp to stiffen it. As the paper of the prints is relatively thick, the lamps emit a very warm, diffuse light - more ambient lighting than a functional reading lamp.
Speaking of lamps: I also experimented a bit with 3D printable lamps - here a ceiling lamp and a desk lamp.
